Junior Cup 11th Nov'07 JUNIOR'S PROGRESS IN FAI JUNIOR CUP
FAI Junior Cup 3rd Round Carrigaline United 3 v Marlboro Trust 1
Carrigaline got the better of there opponents on Sunday morning thanks to a very good team performance. After a busy opening 20 minutes for both sides, Carrig broke the deadlock when Johnathon Murphy played a great ball to Stephen Griffin on the edge of the box. He took a touch, turned in one movement and curled an absolute beauty into the top corner of the net. Griffin and strike partner Glen Bruton tormented Marlboro's defence all day and linked well for Carrig's next two goals. Grriffin went clear on the right and put a great cross in which Bruton attacked and nodded home Carrig's second. The third was a carbon copy. Again, Griffin broke free of the visitors defence and squared the ball to Bruton who finished in style for his second and Carrig's third. Marlboro never gave up though and to their credit scored a consolation goal with 5 minutes to go. Joe Monaghan pounced on a loose ball in Carrig's box and stabbed it into the goal. An entertaining game all round and the lads are looking forward to their next game in the Cup !!
