Friday Night 7-a-side Astro League: Coming Soon To Ballea Park !!!
As the new season is about to kick off, Carrigaline United AFC are delighted to announce that a new 7-a-side Friday Night Astro League will commence in September at Ballea Park!
Friday night 7-a-side football at Ballea Park…what more could you ask for! No longer will you have to drag yourself around Cork to play football with your friends , you will now be able to take part in a competitive local astro league on Carrigaline United’s FIFA approved astro surface at Ballea Park.
We are aware that there are plenty of good footballers in Carrigaline crying out for an outlet to display their skills on a top quality surface. Not everybody is in a position to commit to playing for an 11-a-side team, so this may be just what you are looking for. We expect that the standard will be good, but the main thing we are hoping for is a league that everybody enjoys! There will be certain specific rules and not to mention some of your favourite local referees.
If 12 teams are registered, the teams will be split into 2 groups of 6, with each team playing one another twice (10 games). The top 2 teams in the groups would then play a semi-final and final to determine the Carrigaline Friday Night Astro League Champions!! The idea is to create a fast moving mini-season format with promotion / relegation being introduced from the second season forward.
The duration of the matches will be 50 minutes (25 minutes per half). It is 7-a-side but a maximum of 10 players will be permitted per squad, with roll-on/off substitutions.
You can also download an application form by clicking on the pdf link below.
The cost to register a team will be 100 Euro (which works out at 10 Euro per game guaranteed). The cost per night per team will be 35 Euro, i.e. 5 Euro per head if a team brings the bare 7 players.
Note: For anyone who has not played on the astro pitch at Ballea Park, both standard astro footwear and SMALL-stud/blade football boots are suitable. SMALL-stud/blades are recommended in wet weather, though not essential.
We look forward to hearing from interested teams!
