CUAFC Lose Out To Tramore FC In Club Of The Year Awards 2011
Carrigaline United AFC came close to winning the FAI Aviva Club Of The Year Award for 2011 at the annual FAI Delegates Dinner in Ennis recently, losing out to Tramore FC of Waterford.
Eight monthly winners for the 2010/11 season went forward to the Club Of The Year competition. Each club was required to set up a display stand detailing all aspects of the club and give a presentation to a panel of judges.
Congratulations to Tramore, who are worthy winners and a great club: Tramore FC Win FAI Award 2011
How close we were to winning we will never know. All of the 8 entries were very strong but we have reason to believe there was not much in it!
It would have been great to win but there was substantial consolation in meeting the likes of Republic of Ireland management team and Italian football legends Giovanni Trapattoni and Marco Tardelli. John Delaney, several delegates from the FAI and many other well know figures from the Irish football fraternity were also present. The Carrigaline United contingent were accompanied at their table for the dinner by well known football media figures Billy George, Trevor Welch and Noel Welch.
CUAFC would like to thank the Club Of The Year ‘project team’ of Willie Walsh, Frank Kelleher, Alan Cinnamond, Tim Mawe, Breeda Harrington & Dave Drinan who all helped significantly raise the national profile of Carrigaline United AFC with their endeavours.
We would also like to thank Brian O’Neill for his input to the presentation and Ian Armstrong of Onevision Multimedia Ltd for his production of the exceptional ‘Voxpop’, which will be available on the website soon.
Finally we thank Sean O’Sullivan and the Munster Senior League for their support.
